Update Finally fixed it after months!!! Pretty silly, but simply just use Verbatim's FAT 32 formatter here and do a quick format. I have a few other guesses to why it is not working, as maybe the Homebrew Channel needs to be updated or maybe I should find a different place to download applications. The Wii seems to detect the hard drive since it would light up, but I'm thinking I did the formatting wrong so none of the applications show up. 6.Rename the iso file of the game to 'game'. Inside the games folder add another folder for the game, for instance G:/games/Zelda. Create a new folder inside the HDD and call it 'games'. I pressed 1 on the Wii remote and made sure it had USB selected. A folder will be created inside the HDD with all the Wii games. It also didn't work, and I made sure I didn't have any GameCube memory cards in the Wii or any SD cards connected. I want a hard drive that doesnt go into sleep mode or has led light. I know that the hard drive has to be 2.0 it order to run Nintendo Gamecube games. I want to get a bigger storage so I can have more games. It didn't work, so I tried doing a NTFS full format, checking with the Wii again, and then doing a quick format with FAT 32. What is the best External Hard drive for Nintendo wii that will run both Nintendont and USB Loader GX games. Now I am trying to repeat my success and I've tried doing a FAT 32 format, checking with the Wii after, and then doing a quick format with NTFS. I struggled on doing long formats and quick formats using guiformatter.exe and the standard windows formatter and somehow I managed to make it work. Once I format it the way it needs to be formatted, ide prefer not to mess with it again because Ill be moving all my software and games to it. Besides the Homebrew Channel, all youll need is an external USB 2.0 hard drive and freely available files listed in the tutorial. Attempts to use a larger drive with multiple partitions also does not work as expected. While technically you can format to NTFS to store Wii games with a much larger capacity, if you want to use Nintendont for gamecube games, you need to format to Fat32, which caps out at 2tb. I will be using it for Wii only to run Homebrew apps, Wii ames, GC games, and WIIWARE games, etc. It apparently causes issues if you go larger than 2tb. However, I have recently gotten it replaced with another Easystore hard drive, but the thing is I do not remember how I formatted the drive. I have a 4tb Seagate Backup Plus external USB powered hard drive. This quick clip I take a hard drive from a DirecTv DVR and format it to use as my Wii backup drive using Guiformat.exe and Disk Management in Windows 8. Ive downloaded all the box art for the games I have, so it looks very nice. I have a 2TB WD Easystore hard drive with a 3.0 USB cable and in the past I have gotten it to work with emulators, games, saves, etc. On my wii I have a 2gb sd card formatted in fat32 that has my homebrew apps on it, and a 1tb seagate backup+ external hard drive formatted in fat32, plugged into the USB port closest to the edge.
